Summer Series Race #1
View from the clubhouse before the race…..
The forecast wasn’t looking great, with rain and storms forecast but 15 boats lined up for the first of the summer series. Great to see some hobie 16 sailors having a go at their first race and nice to see Lydia and Lyssa competing on the Bics as well as guests Leon and another A class sailor. We ended up with a few issues with a torn sail and a ripped tramp and one capsize, but we had had a great day out.
John and Patrick were generous enough to man the safety boat and John Y did a great job on Race Control. Thanks so much to all volunteers.
The first race was delayed due to a storm from pushing through and I think we were glad we weren’t sailing when it hit… Shortly after we headed off with a nice breeze and then of course the wind died off, so a shortened course was set.
The same short course was set for the second race, but the afternoon breezes kicked in at around 12+ knots during the last half giving us a cracker run for the arvo… Looking forward to the next day on the water with a top bunch of friendly sailors.
Huge thanks to all our volunteers on race control and safety boats..
Next week the New Year Regatta……..
