Winter Series Races 5 & 6

Beautiful winters day with light to moderate westerlies that didn’t stay the course unfortunately. It was still well worth getting out of bed and getting on the lake for a great day of racing.

17 boats hit the water, with a good mix for the first race and a few less for the second. We had Jonathan and partner in their skiff as visitors and look forward to seeing them again. They got off to a perfect start in the first race but lost the lead with the lake’s vagaries probably being the culprit. The winds became flukey and very light especially in the south east corner playing havoc with strategies.

Some terrific sailing in all divisions and some close finishes as well. The first race couldn’t be cut short due to fleet spread and the last race ended up being short sprint laps.

Big thank you to Rob and Kate on rescue boat and Steve and I managed race control.
