Summer Series Races # 5 & 6

Great weather for ducks.

Wind was up, but otherwise the cold and rainy conditions seemed to keep the majority of sailors home in bed. (or at least I guess that’s where they were)

Thanks to Ferdinand and Sophy manning the safety Boat and Paul Harradine in race control, we managed to get all of 8 boats out on the water. Lock, Tim and Steve Slater contesting the big cats, Steve Lys and Steve Cummins in a showdown between the 4.5 and Wetta, and Craig, and Nigel contesting the mono’s leaving Lydia on her BIC to the closest fought battle of the lot, where there was virtually no time at all between first and last places.

For reasons unknown Tim decided the rain wasn’t wet enough and took a swim in both races, but despite a torn sail he stubbornly refused to retire.

A change in wind direction during the first race spurred a decision to reverse course and shorten the second, during the interval. Apparently, the instructions were quite clear to the two monos but caused much confusion for the cats.

Anyway, everyone got home safe and sound even if we all felt like drowned rats… especially Tim.
