B Series - #6 and Club Championship

17 skippers competed in light and shifty winds last sunday. As usual there was plenty of banter and advice, most of of which was designed to handicap the advisee. Lydia in her O’pen Skiff once again tried to beat our commodore’s A class around the course and my (alleged) electric motor failed, causing me to drop back in the pack.

Great sailing by Steve Lys, Alyssa on their 4.5s and Ron on his 14sq in C division and a shout out to Steve Cummings who is improving all the time in his Weta. A year or so ago he could tell you which end of a boat was which. (some might say nothing has changed).

In A division it was close racing with Loch, Tim and Patrick on Aclass, 16sq and 5.8s respectively taking out the first 3 places. Great to see the A class cat fleet growing.

Thanks heaps to Haylee for volunteering in race control and to Rob and John for running the safety boats. We couldn’t sail without them. And a big thank you to Nigel for dealing with scoring and handicapping.

Truth is, I can’t really remember the race as I wrote this weeks later. But we all had fun and hopefully that’s all that matters. See you next time.
